It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...for Car Enthusiasts!

Every year, automotive enthusiasts from around the world gather on the Monterey Peninsula to celebrate a week-long extravaganza known as "Car Week." This event is a playground for car aficionados, collectors, and casual admirers alike, as it showcases some of the rarest automobiles in existence.

From vintage classics to modern marvels, from race cars to concept vehicles, Car Week has it all. The week features a variety of iconic events like the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, the Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and several high-end auctions hosted by renowned auction houses. There are also smaller car shows, rallies, and street events that are open to the public.

One of the highlights of Car Week is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, held on the renowned Pebble Beach Golf Links. This event attracts the crème de la crème of automotive elegance. Owners of meticulously restored vintage automobiles compete for prestigious awards in various categories, showcasing the art of automotive restoration and preservation. General admission tickets are $575 with other packages available.

For those who appreciate the performance side of automotive history, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion offers an exciting week of racing. This event transforms the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca into a living museum of motorsports, with race cars from various eras taking to the track once again. Spectators can witness legendary machines competing on the track, offering a glimpse into the past and the evolution of automotive engineering. Tickets range from $60-$135 depending on race day.

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club, combines the finest automobiles with gourmet cuisine and luxurious ambiance. Enthusiasts can admire rare automobiles up close, engage with fellow collectors, and immerse themselves in automotive artistry. Featured themes this year include: 50th Anniversary of the 1973 RS Carrera; Porsche 959s; Early Bentley 1950s R-Type Coupe; Eyes on Italian Design. Tickets were issued by lottery this year with an undisclosed price.

Collectors and enthusiasts also have the opportunity to buy some of the world's most sought-after vehicles at prestigious auctions. Auction houses such as RM Sotheby's, Gooding & Company, and Bonhams host events where rare automobiles change hands for staggering sums. If you’ve never been to an auction, I highly recommend it. The auction atmosphere is exciting and you get to see some amazing cars and some amazing prices!

Whether you're a seasoned collector, an aspiring enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of exceptional automobiles, Car Week is an event worth experiencing. Hotels and restaurants are usually full and you will pay top dollar but for those that are passionate about cars, Car Week is worth it!
