June on the Monterey Peninsula always feels like a fresh start. School wraps up, the days stretch a little longer, and the whole community seems to shift into “summer mode.” If you live here, you know the drill: fog in the morning, sunshine by lunch, and a calendar full of things worth getting out for.

This month brings a great mix of food events, local traditions, live music, and family‑friendly gatherings. Here are some of the highlights happening around our towns.

Carmel-by-the-Sea Culinary Week
June 5–13 | Carmel-by-the-Sea
One of the best food weeks of the year. More than 30 restaurants are offering special menus, pairings, and one‑night‑only events.

Carmel Surfabout
June 6–7 | Carmel Beach
A long‑running local surf tradition. Families, surfers, and beach lovers gather for two days of friendly competition. Even if you’re not surfing, it’s a great weekend to enjoy the beach and cheer people on.

La Merienda – Monterey’s Birthday Celebration
June 6, 11 AM–3 PM | Custom House Plaza
Monterey’s annual birthday party, complete with a historic barbecue, music, and a big community turnout. A fun way to celebrate our local history.

Palenke Arts Festival – 10th Anniversary Season
Every Saturday in June, 12–2 PM | Laguna Grande Park, Seaside
A free multicultural festival featuring global music, dance, student performers, and local artists. This year’s headliner is Ruby Ibarra — a great family‑friendly Saturday outing.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
June 19–21 — Ferrari Challenge North America
A full weekend of racing, paddock access, and Ferrari fan energy. Always a fun one for motorsports lovers.

A Visual History of Art & Architecture
June (ongoing) | Monterey Museum of Art
A thoughtful exhibit exploring Monterey’s evolution through art, culture, and architecture. A perfect fog‑day activity.

June is a wonderful time to experience everything our community has to offer so get out there and enjoy!
